Revive Mission 2009 : Day 5

Another day has passed, and God has absolutely drenched us in His blessings and His love!  We are just all SO grateful and SO excited about the things we’ve seen and prayers that He’s answered!

It’s 3am, and we’ve recently returned from the streets of Porth, where a few of us have been interceding, worshipping and sharing God’s amazing story to the lost and broken people of that area.  Conversation after conversation took place, and we are in absolute awe of God’s faithfulness and presence.  We laid hands on non believers on the street, gave out gospels, explained to people the reason for our hope, and also just covered the high street with prayer for God’s mercy and salvation to fall.

Looking back to the beginning of the day, we can see that God’s hand was clearly at work right from the moment we arrived.  After a time of worship, Paul shared with us personal testimonies of manifestations of the Holy Spirit, and other encounters of God’s incredible presence.  He encouraged us to seek more of Him and implore Him (and trust Him) to grow the seeds that have been planted.   Dan brought a picture during this time, that stirred us to be more expectant in our prayers.  He explained that when we see the beginning of God’s rain (His power, miracles and revival), we should immediately be praying for and expecting MORE to follow.  As soon as we feel a touch of rain upon our skin, we should call out to God and ask that those drops of rain would develop into heavier rain storms, developing into gushing floods through the region of Cymmer, bringing upheaval and God-driven transformation.  We responded to this by bowing to our knees, thirsting for more and interceding with desperation for the lost.

During the kids’ group, we ran a disco, as it was the last official meeting.  It was a really great evening, with party games, glow sticks, a smoke machine, DJs, and lots of balloons!  Geraint spoke on God’s love, and how He demonstrated that love so perfectly through Jesus’ death on the cross.  This provoked many conversations with the children, and we believe that they are truely beginning to grasp the fact that they are adored by their Father in heaven, and that He sent Jesus as a way to bring mercy and grace into their lives.

During the youth club, the guys went up to a field and played football, while the girls stayed in the church to paint nails, do face masks, watch a film and eat chocolate fondue!  Everyone had a really great night, and the girls were particularly captivated by the message (given by Lois) of God’s unconditional, unfailing love for them.  It’s been such a privilege this week to witness God’s gentle interventions into the hearts of these young people, and we pray that God will continue this work in them, as they learn more of Him and of the life that He has laid out for them.

We also praise God for His attentive ear and healing hand that we have clearly seen tonight.  A member of our team was having bad pain in her shoulder, that was causing distraction and difficulty.  We all laid hands on our sister in Christ, declared that God is sovereign over all disease, pain and trouble, and prayed that He would heal her…… after about 20 minutes, she announced that the pain had disappeared - praise the Lord for His compassion and goodness!

‘He will defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy;  he will crush the oppressor.  He will endure as long as the sun, as long as the moon, through all generations.  He will be like rain falling on a mown field, like showers watering the earth.’ Psalm 72:4-6

‘Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.’ (Hosea 6:3)

‘You heavens above, rain down righteousness;
       let the clouds shower it down.
       Let the earth open wide,
       let salvation spring up,
       let righteousness grow with it;
       I, the LORD, have created it.’
(Isaiah 45:8)
